My name is Diogo Machado. I’m married, in love, and the proud “dad” of two little dogs, Mel and Lola. For over 10 years, I’ve been welcoming people to Lisbon as if I were opening the door to my own home.
To me, it’s not just a job – it’s the joy of hosting well, of caring for every detail, of turning a stay into a warm and lasting memory.
Before this chapter, I spent 12 years as a dental ceramist. Trained in precision, patience, and artistic detail, I’ve carried that same eye into everything I do today. Now, I split my days between managing beautiful homes and crafting unique wooden pieces at my workshop inside Akto – Lisbon’s finest carpentry studio – where I bring my brand, D’made, to life.
Whether by car or motorbike, I’m always ready to go wherever I’m needed – quickly, personally, and with full attention. Being present is part of the care I bring.
I work alongside Joana, my life and mission partner. She’s an architect by training and an exceptional interior decorator. She gives soul to the spaces. Together, we create environments full of taste, comfort, and character.
HOW
My commitment is simple: everything must run like a Swiss watch – with precision, consistency, and beauty.
But it must also have heart.
The homes we manage are not just “investments.”
They are living spaces, carefully prepared to welcome people from all over the world with comfort, quality, and attention to detail.
Nothing is left to chance: the mattresses are great, the towels and linens are top quality, and guests are always welcomed with coffee, wine, a sweet treat, and the essentials to feel at home.
Our cleaning team is the best in the market: incredible women, full-time entrepreneurs, with whom I’ve worked side by side for years. I wouldn’t succeed without them – and that says it all.
I use autonomous check-in systems and I still make presencial check in’s whenever I feel it’s necessary or in some particular houses, but I never stop caring. I’m always attentive, present, available. Many guests end up becoming friends. And the feedback I receive leaves no room for doubt: those who stay, want to return.

With me, there’s no need for rigid contracts. When a client no longer wants to work with me, it’s usually because they’re not happy, or I didn’t meet their expectations – or sometimes, because I’m not happy, or the client isn’t aligned with my values. Either way, both of us are always free to walk away and follow a different path. That honesty is part of what makes it work.
